Because we are a 100% volunteer-based organization, we have many opportunities inside the organization where you can donate your time. If you love to help out a good cause, take a look to see if any of these opportunities intrigue you:
Dog Foster: Since Adopt A Rescued Pet Inc. does not have a kennel a dog foster is vital to our organization. As a foster the dog would live in your home until adopted. Pet fosters find this to be a very rewarding way to volunteer their time as they see the dogs transform from a sometimes shy, scared dog into a loving companion. The more foster homes that we have available enables us to save more homeless dogs. Check out our FAQ Fostering to find out more information.
Computer Skills: All available dogs are posted on Petfinder and other pet adoption websites. Volunteers are needed to enter and keep the information current for the adoption websites. The more information that is listed on the site is essential to get the dogs adopted. The websites are very easy to navigate. Volunteers are also needed to create a database of animals that have been adopted.
Photographer: A picture says a 1000 words and the right picture will encourage people to read more about the dog. If you have a knack for taking great pictures/videos this may be the opportunity for you.
Pet Adoptions: Some volunteer fosters are fostering more than one dog so extra hands at the pet adoptions are always needed. Volunteers talk with the public and share information about the pets that are up for adoption.
Public Events: Adopt A Rescued Pet Inc. participates in the Citrus County Volunteer Fair, K-9 Karnival and other pet related events. Help setting up and taking down are needed in addition to answering questions and being a community resource.
Newsletter production: One of our goals is to start a website newsletter that would be produced at least 4 times a year. If you love to write we need your help to put together a newsletter that will be interesting as well as educational.
Other areas of volunteering:
• Transporting dogs for routine vet care or grooming
• Compile a scrapbook to be shown at adoption events
• Help at fundraising events (Xmas wrapping, yard sales)
• Marketing skills
• Soliciting for various fundraising events
• Grant writer
• Assist with pre-adoption home visits
